Cutie Pies

This is one of the many books I got for Christmas. I am excited to try out these recipes. I read the history about the author and how she started baking and I am a lot like her. I didn't start out wanting to bake but I have found that if I do it with a purpose, meaning for someone or something I love to do it. I enjoyed making the sugar cookies, gingerbread and chocolate cookies for our friends and family. Now, I want to try making pies.

When I was growing up my parents always made pumpkins pies for Thanksgiving. My dad is actually known for his pumpkin pies around the neighborhood. I had never really took interest in learning how to make them until a couple of years ago. I just loved to enjoy a slice for breakfast and again after the Thanksgiving meal. Now it's kind of a tradition that the day before thanksgiving we get together at my parents house and make pie crusts pumpkin filling and turn them into pies. I love it. It's a fun tradition that I hope we keep doing for years to come!

I love the quote on the side of my blog about accomplishments. I read it every time I think something may be too hard for me. I have learned a lot about myself when I think positively rather then negatively. I can do hard things! So, follow me on this pie making journey maybe YOU will find that every accomplishment starts with the decision to TRY.

Cadbury Chocolate Cookies

I love this website Our Best Bites, these ladies are amazing! I found THIS RECIPE......Cadbury chocolate cookies. For those of you who know my husband Ryan, know he loves cadbury chocolates. I made these cookies last night and he loves them! I made them with the Christmas balls instead of the eggs though. The recipe was easy to follow and pretty simplistic by way of ingredients. If you love cadbury chocolates, you have to try these cookies! So go check out their website or buy their cookbook :)

Cookie recipe

Some of you have asked me where I got my cookie recipe from. It's not mine or a family secret recipe or anything like that. I actually found it in this book. I love this cookbook because it's all about Christmas food and traditions. It is so full of things that remind me of Christmas especially the cookies. We had lots growing up! So, I hope you have the chance to enjoy it like I have this year. Merry Christmas!

Beehive cupcake

I made these for my activity day girls. One of the things they need to do before they enter into young womens is talk with the beehive president (the 1st class in yw). I thought these would be fun as the treat. I just used frosting for the "beehive" the bee is a peanut m&m and the wings are almond slivers. They were a hit!

My son's 8th Birthday

My son loves the Wii game Mario Brothers. So, for his 8th birthday I made this star cake and a mushroom cake. It was fun to do and he loved them which made all the work worth it.

The Star cake was pretty straight forward, I bought the pan and then used a "star" tip to decorate it with. I just looked at a picture of the Mario star and decorated.

The mushroom was a little tricky. The pan is actually a cupcake so I just cut some of the "stump" off to make it more of a mushroom shape.

Christmas cookies

I have to say thanks to my friend Jenette. She taught me the basics of decorating cookies. I like to put my own twist on them. I made some last night that didn't make the cut. Ya, they were ugly :) Anyways it's a creative process and I am excited to share it with you!
Here is a star, I decided to use other colors rather then just yellow.

Candycane

Stocking.....I liked the little circles rather then smooth and I a used a serrated tip on the top t0 get the "fluffy" look.

A Blog about Baking......

Honestly I didn't start out liking to bake. When I was younger I would try and make cookies and they NEVER turned out. I liked to bake brownies, cakes and cupcakes because they are hard to mess up! I finally got into baking cookies for which my husband and children are grateful for. This blog is an outlet for my creativity. I have lots of ideas and I am excited to share them with you.
